Meeting with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency

Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Pieter De Crem is currently on a short work visit to Vienna, Austria. On October 18th, he had a meeting with Director General Yukiya Amano of the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA.

The Belgian Government recently asked Secretary of State Pieter De Crem to support the Myrrha-project. MYRRHA stand for Multi-Purpose hYbrid Research Reactor for High-Tech Applications and it is the world’s first prototype of a nuclear reactor driven by a particle accelerator. This innovative core technology is also very safe and easy to control. Secretary of State De Crem therefore supports the Myrrha project in a sustainable manner and will help to find foreign partners who are willing to invest in this project.

On the second and final day of his work visit, Secretary of State De Crem will meet the Secretary-General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the OSCE, whose headquarters is also located in Vienna.
