Bilateral working visit to the United States

May 2018

Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Pieter De Crem arrived in Los Angeles for a bilateral working visit to the United States. This visit follows previous mission to Atlanta, Washington D.C. and Texas to deepen the transatlantic trade relations through ‘permanent campaigning’.

The visit to Los Angeles is mainly dedicated to innovation and cooperation. Secretary of State De Crem will therefore emphasize the exceptional ties between L.A. and Belgium, as well as the large attention our country pays to Research & Development. Belgian companies are among the most innovative in the world in a wide range of sectors.

The US is the 5th largest trading partner of our country, and by far the most important non-European. Regular visits allow Secretary of State De Crem to monitor progress in projects, and to discuss new opportunities to further strengthen our bilateral trade relations.
