State Visit to India with important focus on economic cooperation

5 – 11 November 2017

Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, accompanied by Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Pieter De Crem, will head a State Visit to India from 5 – 11 November. This Visit takes places during the 70th year of independence of the country and the launch of bilateral relations with New Delhi.

Central to the visit is the innovative partnership between India and Belgium in the 21st century. This element of innovation is mainly emphasized in the important economic activities. Belgian companies offer many assets in new sectors such as nanotechnology, biotech, and cleantech, but also in traditional sectors such as food processing, glass production or heavy industries. In addition, India is one of the most important non-European trading partners of our country, with around 175 Belgian companies operating in India and about 80 Indian companies active in Belgium. This mission is therefore looking for new opportunities to further strengthen and diversify our already close bilateral cooperation at the economic level.
