Pieter De Crem thanks the outgoing US Ambassadors for the excellent cooperation

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Pieter De Crem thanks the three outgoing US Ambassadors for their significant role in strengthening the ties between the United States, Belgium, NATO and the European Union.

During the past years, Pieter De Crem worked closely together with Ms. Denise Bauer, Ambassador of the United States in Belgium, Mr. Douglas Lute, Permanent Representative of the US to NATO, and Mr. Anthony Gardner, US Ambassador to the European Union. This cooperation led to a deepening and strengthening of the transatlantic link, in particular for our companies and economies. Last December for example, no less than 96 Belgian companies participated in the very successful trade mission to Texas, led by HRH Princess Astrid and Secretary of State Pieter De Crem. This mission once again confirmed the importance of our bilateral trade with the United States, our fifth most important trading partner, just behind our largest neighbors.

Secretary of State Pieter De Crem is also looking forward to continue this excellent cooperation with the future Ambassadors of the United States in Belgium, to NATO, and to the European Union.
