Speech at the reception in honor of the members of the Belgian economic mission to Texas

Embassy of the United States of America in Belgium – January 9th, 2017

On Monday, January 9th, 2017, American Ambassador to Belgium Denise Bauer invited the participants of the princely economic mission to Texas at a reception at the US Embassy in Brussels. Princes Astrid, who headed the mission that took place last December, was also present.

Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Pieter De Crem held a speech in which he emphasized the success of the mission. An impressive total of 98 Belgian companies registered to the mission and participated in several sectorial conferences, seminars, official meetings, network opportunities and cultural events. The economic mission focused on some sectors in which Belgian companies can provide world-class expertise. The logistics sector held a prominent place, as well as medical technology, biopharma, petrochemicals, and tourism.

The mission underlined our special relationship with the United States, Belgium’s fifth important trading partner, only just after our largest neighboring countries. The many new contacts resulted in a number of immediate contracts for Belgian companies and, above all, opened many new doors for cooperation.
