Bilateral working visit to the US

On 18 and 19 May, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Pieter De Crem is in Washington D.C. for a series of talks on our bilateral trade relations.

He had a meeting at the Department of Energy with Undersecretary for Science Paul M. Dabbar and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Edward McGinnis with regard to the MYRRHA project. In 2017, the Belgian Federal Government appointed Pieter De Crem as Special Envoy for this research project that is linked to the Belgian Research Center for Nuclear Energy. He supports MYRRHA by bringing it to the attention of potential foreign partners.

Subsequently, Secretary of State De Crem held a meeting with Michael Finelli, President Specialty Polymers and Elisabeth A. Boylan, Government and Public Affairs Manager North America of the Belgian company Solvay, on US trade barriers.
