Speech at the New Year’s Reception of the Belgo-Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Tuesday, January 16th, 2018

Tuesday evening, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Pieter De Crem was guest of honor at the Belgo-Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He held a speech in which he looked back on the successful State Visit to India of last November. He also gave his vision on the future of the bilateral economic bond between India and Belgium. He indicated that there is a need for diversification of our trade, and that there exist numerous opportunities to achieve this. After all, Belgian companies have unique knowhow and expertise in both traditional and new sectors, which often form a top priority for the Indian Government.

De Crem also emphasized the need for smooth connections to facilitate trade between our two countries. He therefore strongly supported the establishment of a direct connection between Brussels and Mumbai, which in the meantime proved very successful, and he continues to work for another direct flight between our capital and Delhi.
